Elisabeth and I had a chance to get down to the Chena River on one of its final icy days. It was a slow breakup this year because winter’s-end was unusually warm. She enjoyed seeing the few remaining pieces floating downstream.

People around Fairbanks start to get excited this time of year as our daylight increases by nearly seven minutes per day. I took this picture from our front porch at 5:37pm on Saturday. We see beautiful sunsets here every day and have a great view of the Alaska mountain range.

Coming home from Anchor Point we drove a few miles to the Homer Spit; here are Deborah and Stephen at Land’s End.

Eagles are common on the Kenai Peninsula and we observed this one in Anchor Point on the shore of Cook Inlet.
